With changes in season come changes in the street sweeper schedule for the City of Santa Clarita. The City streets will be swept once per week through mid-January, up from once per month during the summer schedule.

The City’s trail system cleaning schedule will remain the same, as well as main arterial streets, including Soledad Canyon Road, McBean Parkway, Newhall Avenue and Golden Valley Road. All the medians and all city-owned or leased parking lots with 25 or more parking spaces will continue to be swept once per month.

“Earlier this year, the City secured a new street sweeping contract through its competitive bid process that allowed all city streets to be swept once per month in spring, summer and winter, and once per week in the fall,” said Mayor Frank Ferry. “The new schedule saves the City approximately $170,000 while still maintaining optimal sweeping services.”

The new contract allows for 24 street sweeping projects to be conducted free of charge, including special events, accidents, spills and activities that will make street sweeping necessary on days when it would not be needed otherwise.

Residents looking to find out when their streets will be swept may contact the Environmental Services Division at (661) 286-4098 or visit the City’s website at santa-clarita.com.
